The 3Com HomeConnect ADSL Modem Dual Link is a reliable, easy-to-install ADSL modem providing unrivaled flexibility. By providing both USB and Ethernet ports, computers can share local resources (such as printers and files) and access to the Internet - simultaneously! The Dual Link modem can grow along with your home networking needs. Initially attach a computer to either port. Attach a second desktop or notebook computer to the other port. Add a stackable 3Com OfficeConnect Ethernet hub to attach even more computers. Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line technology, or ADSL, can bring data, voice and video into your computer up to 150 times faster than a 56K modem - up to 8 Mbps downstream, and 1 Mbps upstream. Since the connection is always on, there's no need to dial in to a server, no more waiting to establish your connection, no more busy signals. And even though ADSL uses your existing phone line, you can go online and talk on the phone at the same time. The 3Com HomeConnect ADSL Modem Dual Link provides the innovation, ease of installation and management you've come to expect from 3Com products. The Dual Link Manager is a simple, HTML-based, graphical interface that comes installed on the modem itself. Using any browser, it walks you through the installation process step by step. To make sure you have the latest software updates, the Dual Link modem also comes with Instant Update software. Instant Update periodically checks for newer software versions and, if there is an update available, downloads it for you. The Dual Link modem provides investment protection by supporting popular DSL connection models (including bridging, PPP-over-Ethernet, and PPP-over-ATM) using the same consistent interface in each case. "Inner/Outer Pair Autodetect" feature ensures that your modem will automatically determine how your DSL line is set up by your service provider to get you online as quickly as possible.
