The 3Com ADSL Wireless 11g Firewall Router combines an ADSL modem, router, 802.11g wireless access point, four-port switch, and firewall to enable up to 253 total (128 wireless) users to economically and securely share a single ADSL connection. The high-speed routing engine easily handles large data transfers and Internet downloads, including those from multimedia applications. The 11g ADSL router provides a high-speed, 54 Mbps wireless connection for users with 802.11g-equipped PCs and laptops. It is also backward-compatible with 802.11b wireless LAN equipment, preserving existing network investments. And the Wi-Fi compatible router interoperates with Wi-Fi-certified products from other vendors. Advanced wireless security and multiple firewall features offer one of the industry's strongest levels of protection for the network. To shield wireless connections, the 11g gateway router implements 256-bit WPA encryption for maximum security, along with 40/64- & 128-bit WEP encryption for legacy clients. Stateful packet inspection firewall, hacker pattern detection, URL filtering, and other security features help protect the entire network from attacks and other Internet security risks. This product comes with the 3Com OfficeConnect Wireless 11g USB Adapter. Users can roam the office while accessing network resources, the Internet, and e-mail at speeds up to 54 Mbps - ideal for multimedia or other high-bandwidth applications - at distances up to 100 meters (328 feet). The USB adapter works with the 3Com OfficeConnect Wireless 11g Access Point and Cable/DSL Gateway to create a powerful, high-speed all-wireless network in minutes for home and branch offices, remote sites, and classrooms. The 11g products are backward-compatible with 11b products, so both 11b and 11g clients can reside on the same network. The adapter offers the flexibility and convenience of USB connections without sacrificing performance. It's hinged antenna works with a variety of desktop and notebook designs. To protect wireless connections, the USB adapter supports WPA encryption and 40/64- and 128-bit WEP shared-key encryption. The Wireless Card Manager feature creates profiles for mobile users that reflect specific wireless LAN settings for each place they travel: users just select the proper profile and they are configured for connection.
