Allied Telesis'' chassis for the TurboStack Series stackable hubs are intended for placement on a shelf, desktop, or for mounting in 19-inch rack systems. The chassis options support both shared and segmented backplanes. In a shared backplane, all of the TurboStack Series modules act as one large managed hub. Even a fully populated workgroup or departmental concentrator behaves as a single repeater. When switches are used to connect each of the TurboStack Series hubs, a segmented backplane chassis is usually required. A segmented backplane isolates each hub from the other units in the chassis, unless connected to an internal or external segment switch.
