The new MacConi Ethernet cards for NuBus and LC Macintosh systems are designed with Asanté's custom ASIC chip and based on the MacCon Ethernet card's proven CHAMP (Concurrent High-speed Access with Multiple Packet) technology, making them among the Fastest available. Asanté's CHAMP technology utilizes a 32-bit data path and a pipelining technique to maximize CPU efficiency and network performance. The 32-bit data path allows data to be transmitted between the Macintosh and the network with higher bandwidth, while pipelining allows data packets to be simultaneously processed by the adapter, increasing overall throughput. Asanté reduced the number of components on the MacConi cards by integrating CHAMP technology onto a single, custom-designed ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit).
