Digital Linear Tapes use advanced linear recording technology, a highly accurate tape guide system, and an adaptive control mechanism to provide high-capacity, high-duty cycle backup and restore system. This model of the library replaces the original DLT 15 Cartridge Library Model 1530.The 20/40 based libraries can provide either a price/performance well matched to current LAN speeds requiring high performance and capacity in an automated backup and restore system. When coupled with application software such as CA ARCserve or Seagate Backup Exec, the manageability, performance and capacity are extended even further through the following features. The DLT Library automatically reads bar code labels on tapes via an integrated bar code reader, then passes the information along to the application software that automatically builds and updates a tape catalog. The catalog can then be used to locate tapes for automated restores. Therefore, the labor-intensive functions of scheduling backups, cataloging and controlling tapes and locating tapes for restore in a tape library can be automated using the DLT Library. 15 cartridges can store up to 600 GB at a 2:1 compression ratio. The DLT Library has online repair capability. If one drive fails, the second drive takes over while the failed drive is repaired. The repair takes place without any downtime. This DLT Library comes complete with two DLT Drives. Additional Library Ready DLT Drives are available as your backup needs grow. Unattended operation of any device requires a high level of availability. In addition to the Compaq engineered and tested hardware and software reliability, Compaq provides, at no extra charge, a three-year parts warranty with one-year on-site repair by certified Compaq service professionals.
