Compaq has added new capabilities to its 4/8-GB DAT drives that provide greater durability and reliability for servers with up to 8 GB in size. The Compaq 4/8-GB DAT drive incorporates a new enhanced internal tape head cleaning mechanism which extends the time between head cleanings, reduces errors in reading and writing tape, and extends the life of the tape drive itself. Even “dirty” tapes can now be read more reliably.
