The D-Link AirPlusG DI-524UP wireless G router is an ideal networking solution for home and the small office. This router combines the high-speed 802.11g wireless technology and robust firewall security features in providing broadband Internet connection to a small workgroup. With an integrated print server function and 4 built-in Ethernet switch ports, it's an ideal device for those creating their first wireless networks, as well as for more advanced users looking for advanced network protection and content filtering. The DI-524UP router offers a maximum wireless signal rate of up to 54Mbps through its wireless channels, allowing streaming videos and other high bandwidth applications such as on-line gaming and video clips to operate without the hassle of Ethernet cables. The ability to handle high bandwidth applications also makes streaming real time programs more enjoyable and more efficient. The DI-524UP's built-in firewall makes it more difficult for hackers to penetrate your network. Firewall features include functions to allow or disallow certain ports to be opened for certain applications. Time scheduling can be applied to the firewall rules to have specific ports open at certain times and to be closed at other times. Features like content filtering, MAC filtering, URL blocking, and domain blocking are useful tools to prevent unwanted intruders from connecting to your network or browsing restricted sites. A simple, intelligent web-based setup wizard is provided with the DI-524UP to allow users to quickly set up the router and connect computers to share a high-speed Internet connection, files, resources, games or just to communicate. Multiple wireless clients can also securely connect to the network using 64-bit or 128-bit WEP data encryption. A built-in print server function allows you to share out your favorite printer with home and office users so they can print web pages and other files. Your printer can be attached to this router through a USB interface. In addition, an integrated 4-port switch allows ready connection of up to 4 computers.
