The iKey hard token is used with the VPN Client software to significantly increase the security offered. The iKey is a small USB device that addresses one of the most significant problems of PC-based cryptography - that keys are stored on the PC's hard disk. Here, they can be found, retrieved and attacked by an intruder. The iKey holds the key and so it never needs to be copied to the PC's hard disk. When used with VPN Client and Safepipe, the iKey is used to carry the both the token file and the shared secret from the Safepipe where these were generated to the client site.
