The Expression 1640XL A3+ scanner features Epson's most advanced scanning technologies providing high speed, maximum detail and superior sharpness and clarity. The 1600dpi alternate Matrix CCD, in conjunction with Epson Micro Step Drive and high-quality optics, results in an optical resolution of 1600 x 3200dpi. The Expression 1640XL features an internal and external 42-bit color depth, giving the ability to capture a staggering 4.4 trillion colors and 16, 384 shades of gray. Combined with an increased optical density of 3.6D, the Expression 1640XL can produce images with amazing detail, clarity, and definition - everything that is required by the graphics professional. All this extra detail is captured at an even quicker pace. With a super scanning speeds of 4.5msec/line for line art and grayscale images, and 13.2msec/line for full color, it is possible to scan and transfer a full A3 document in less than a minute. And with a zero warm up time scanning starts when you start. The addition of a USB interface with the existing SCSI connector increases the versatility of the Expression 1640XL.
