Portable II is the fastest external CD writer on the market. The drive burns CD-Rs at 24x and rewrites CD-RWs at 10x. The new high-speed drive from Freecom reduces the burn time for a complete CD of 74 minutes in length (650 MB) to less than 4 minutes. The burner also has a read speed of over 40x. With these uniquely fast speeds for an external drive, the Freecom Portable II is the ideal mobile storage solution for all PC users. The Portable II meets every requirement: it is a powerful mobile CD burner with an attractive design. The Freecom Portable II is connected to the PC using the new and extremely fast Freecom cable II USB-2 which is shipped with the drive and guarantees full use of the CD burner speed. The combination of the Portable II, the USB-2 connection cable and the new optional USB-2 PCI card from Freecom provides a complete external USB-2 solution which is more than a match for any internal drive in terms of speed, says Axel Lucassen, Vice President of Freecom Europe. The Freecom USB-2 PCI card can be used to expand any PC simply and cost-effectively by five USB-2 ports. This means that the Freecom Portable II and other fast USB-2 devices can be used on any PC.
