This option provides an unswitched/unblocked optical connection to each blade server bay and delivers additional flexibility in data center network architectures. It provides easy integration into existing infrastructures that have already standardized on a specific SAN fabric. The Optical Pass-thru Module delivers compatibility with the TotalStorage family of products including the FAStT family of products, Enterprise Storage Servers and IBM SAN switches. It transmits and receives network data between blades and works in conjunction with the Myrinet Cluster Expansion Card, Gigabit Ethernet Expansion Card, Fiber Channel Expansion Card and the integrated Gigabit Ethernet controllers.
