Add the power of multimedia to your Thinkpad with IBM's 8x/20x portable CD-ROM drive. This drive uses constant angular velocity (CAV) to automatically increase the drive's speed when reading from the inside of the CD to the outside, which accounts for its dual speeds. The IBM 8x/20x portable drive is lightweight and easy to install. It uses a PCMCIA standard interface for simple Plug and Play installation. Installing the drive is as easy as slipping it into your PCMCIA Type II slot. And it's compatible with IBM ThinkPads, as well as any other PC based notebook computer. You can power your IBM portable drive with your choice of three options: AC adapter, rechargeable NiCd battery pack, and AA batteries. The AC adapter and NiCd batter pack are included. It includes 16-bit stereo audio, FM music synthesizer, joystick/midi port and support for Windows 95 game API.The IBM 8x/20x boasts a fast 150 millisecond average access time and 3MB data transfer rate at 20x. It also sports a 512KB data buffer, which is big for a portable drive.
