The DVD-ROM for the Thinkpad 770 allows you to bring all the benefits of DVD to your new notebook. The ThinkPad 770 DVD-ROM drive reads DVD movies in NTSC format and CD-ROM discs. You can even play full-length DVD movies on your notebook with IBM's optional DVD enhanced video adapter. The DVD drive connects to the internal IDE controller in the system unit of your Thinkpad and requires no separate adapter card for installation. The drive supports a range of software, including IBM OS/2 Warp 3.0 and 4.0, Microsoft Windows 3.11, Microsoft Windows for Workgroups 3.11, Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, and Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 3.51. DVD (digital video disc) is the latest multimedia technology. It produces high resolution video with less distortion for rich, smooth flowing graphics. Its audio has dynamic range, low distortion, and wide frequency response. It's true digital sound. Backward compatible, DVD plays current and future DVD titles, as well as existing audio CD's and CD-ROM based applications, such as games. And the media offer seven times the data storage capacity of CD-ROM discs. DVD media have a 4.7GB capacity, which is equal to seven CD's.
