IBM and American Power Conversion (APC) offer an integrated solution for customers requiring protection from power related system outages. Three models are offered from 700Volt Amps (VA) to 1400 VA. IBM will ship PowerChute plus with each IBM PC Server 500 and selected models of the PS/2 Model 95s. PowerChute plus software provides extensive UPS power management and diagnostics. In addition, PowerChute plus has been enhanced to provide alert and monitoring capabilities as an integrated service of NetFinity. This will allow customers to use a single management interface, NetFinity, for both client/server and power management activities. The Smart-UPS 1400 provides protection from power outages as well as surge protection, EMI/RFI filtering and Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR). AVR regulates and corrects low voltage and high voltage conditions allowing you to work through brownouts and overvoltages without using battery power. To ensure high reliability, the UPS performs a self test at power on, and at regular intervals thereafter. Uptime will depend on the server configuration. The Smart-UPS 1400 has some of the most advanced performance features available. Intelligent Battery Management improves reliability and extends battery life. The SmartSlot internal accessory slot allows you to install optional accessory boards to customize and enhance the performance of your Smart-UPS.
