Intel introduces the Intel PRO/Wireless 5000 LAN Dual Access Point, a fully integrated, dual-mode, wireless LAN access point that gives you flexibility and increased network capacity through simultaneous support of two wireless standards: 802.11a and 802.11b. Operating in the clean 5 GHz spectrum with eight non-overlapping channels, you can install up to eight dual access points in a location to provide up to 432 Mbps network capacity in a single area. The Intel PRO/Wireless 5000 LAN Dual Access Point uses a software-configurable antenna, provides support for IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) and includes a security lock. The access point is designed for placement on a table, or for mounting on a wall or the ceiling, giving users optimal networking performance at distances up to 300 feet.
