The Data Silo DS400 was created specifically to provide a rugged, reliable and modular enclosure for housing the equivalent of nine 3.5" or 5.25" half-height SCSI devices. Similar to Kingston's Data Silo DS500 9-bay chassis, the DS400 is offered as an unwired chassis with optional 50-pin Microminiature, 68-pin Wide or 68-pin Wide VHDCI (used for Ultra2 (LVD)) internal daisy chain configuration cabling and rear panel connectors. All cable integration is provided free of charge. Whereas the steel DS500 is designed especially for RAID (with load-sharing, hot swappable power supplies, hot swappable fans and an operator display panel), the aluminum DS400 (tower model also includes steel) is intended for general SCSI mass storage.
