The ability to read tapes previously written involves compatibility at four levels: physical media, interface command set, drivers and the backup software application. OnStream implements the physical and interface levels, while third-party software companies normally implement the driver and application levels. The OnStream ADR30 drives provide compatibility with the SC30 for some applications.
