Installed NEO SERIES tape libraries can use an add-on drive modules for several purposes. One is to upgrade from a DLT 8000, SDLT220, SDLT 320, LTO-1 or LTO-2 drive to increase data transfer speed and capacity, or to keep an older drive to restore data from older tapes. The NEO models have multiple drive bays; one can be used for the older drive, and the other(s) for the LTO-3 drive.
