Freecom CD/DVD Servers makes CDs and DVDs easily accessible to all users at all times and are designed to take CD/DVD peripherals off the File server and place them directly on the network. Install, ready, go! The Freecom Server includes a capacious hard disk, a DVD-ROM drive and a fast CPU. The hard disk is used as a caching drive and can store at least 27 full length CD-ROMs or 9 DVD-ROMs (depending on capacity). Given that a typical CD is only half full, the Freecom Server solution can actually store data from over 50 CDs! CDs or DVDs can be easily copied from the DVD drive to the hard disk. The CD or DVD content is then immediately available for instant access to all connected network users. Accessing a disk generally takes 10 milliseconds or less, compared to the nearly 100 milliseconds required in ordinary CD/DVD- ROM Server solutions. The compact Server is truly file server independent; it does not tie up the file server and IO resources, requires no client or server software to install and does not require file server downtime. The Freecom Tower features the Etrax 100 32 bit RISC processor 100 MHz, which brings data throughput up to 2700 Kbytes/s over a 100 Mbit network. Freecom CD/DVD Server 100SS includes a Single SCSI port. With this Single pass through version, up to 5 additional SCSI drives (CD-ROM/DVD/HDU/CD-RW) can be connected to this Server. All Freecom CD/DVD servers have a built in, intuitive, comprehensive Web interface for management from any browser, anywhere on the network or Internet.
