Philips introduces its new 6x DVD-ROM kit that turn a desktop PC into a powerful, interactive entertainment center. The DVD-ROM kit provides seamless and sharp video and sound playback Dolby Digital audio. With this new kit users can watch the brilliant clarity of DVD-Video movies, experience the sound and video effects of the new PC games, benefit from interactive educational DVD or CD-ROM programs, and listen to all their favorite audio CDs - all on the PC without the need for additional software. The PCDV632K kit contains a high-quality Hollywood+ hardware MPEG decoder, enabling the user to play DVD-Video movies on the PC as well as on the TV. The Philips 6x DVD-ROM kit makes it possible to upgrade a PC with DVD without trading off CD-ROM read-back performance. This kit feature a high-speed DVD-ROM drive, which provides data transfer rates of a spectacular 6x (8, 112 kbytes/sec. max. reading) for DVD discs.
